New 3-Screen Not-for-profit cinema to open in Williamsburg by Spring, 2008
Press Release Announcement made by Ocularis Founder, Dónal Ó'Céilleachair
at Ocularis' 10th Year Anniversary Retropsective Screening
at MoMA, The Museum of Modern Art, NY
on January 20, 2007:
"I am pleased to mark this occasion by announcing that Williamsburg
will have a new 3-screen not-for-profit cinema by Spring of 2008. The
new cinema will be named The Brooklyn Kinetoscope and will be located
at 136 Metropolitan Avenue.
Ocularis has reached an initial agreement with The Brooklyn Kinetoscope:
To merge existing resources and to develop a space for continuing the
type of dynamic and critically acclaimed programming that Ocularis
presented for 10 years as a part of the larger scope of The Brooklyn
Kinetoscope, which will be dedicated to the breadth and depth of
cinema and its intersections with Brooklyn's artists, filmmakers and
musicians.
Ocularis' weekly cinema series will be on sabbatical until that time.
Full details of the project are scheduled to be released later in 2007."
